Abdul Qaiyum Alidin is a trailblazing engineer, scientist, and entrepreneur from Sarawak, Malaysia, whose career has been defined by innovation, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to bridging tradition with modernity. Born in Miri, Sarawak, Abdul’s journey began amidst the dual influences of Sarawak’s lush rainforests and its booming oil and gas industry. These early experiences ignited his fascination with technology, energy, and the transformative power of engineering. Educated in electronics and engineering at Multimedia University (MMU) in Malaysia, Abdul later pursued advanced studies at RMIT University in Melbourne, where he attended the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (SAMME) and graduated with a Master’s degree with Distinction. His global perspective expanded further at Politecnico di Milano (Polimi), Italy’s top university, where he trained in advanced aerospace systems specialized in rotary-wing and vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) technologies. Abdul has served as a Senior Lecturer and led aircraft maintenance and aerospace talent development programmes, contributing directly to workforce capability building in Malaysia. In industry, he held senior executive roles within large engineering organisations, leading initiatives in aerospace, space technology, and digital transformation. He was also involved in the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy 2018–2022, supporting the state’s transition toward a technology-driven and innovation-led economy. As the founder of StartUp Borneo, he helped shape Sarawak’s startup and innovation ecosystem, facilitating strategic partnerships and mobilising significant funding to support entrepreneurship and technology commercialisation. His work has been recognised internationally, including the Asia Most Innovative Award, Founders 2.0 Entrepreneur Award, and the Global Excellence & Leadership Award. Currently pursuing his PhD at Malaysia’s leading research university, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Abdul’s research focuses on climate-smart solutions and satellite technologies, reflecting his passion for sustainability and cutting-edge solutions. Guided by a vision for Sarawak’s future, Abdul is not just an engineer or entrepreneur but a changemaker committed to fostering progress while honoring heritage.

Prior to this he was Vice President Sales APAC for SR Technics and before this ran an independent consultancy focused on joint ventures, market strategy and supply chain development, offering support to governments, financial institutions as well as small and medium sized enterprises. David was 10 years with Rolls-Royce including being Regional Director Malaysia and prior as Business Development Director responsible for TotalCare and the successful development of their customer e.business portal. For nineteen years David worked with both Malaysia Airlines and British Airways in various technical and commercial supervisory and management roles. David has lived in Malaysia for almost 35 years and is a Permanent Resident. He has been a Board member for a number of Malaysian companies and has been involved in various voluntary roles, one of these being with Pemudah. For 10 years David was a Board member of Eurocham – 7 years as Chair. Penny brings to the role more than 25 years of experience in diplomacy, trade, international business, and consulting across four continents. She has a deep understanding of the region, having served as a senior Australian diplomat across Southeast Asia and as former Group CEO of Asialink, Australia's leading center for Asia engagement. Previously, Penny held Asia leadership positions at Stripe, Visa, and McKinsey & Company. Penny has served as an Executive Board Member with key business associations and nonprofits in Singapore, Australia and the United States. She is a Board member of the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council and Harpswell, an organization which supports women's leadership initiatives in Southeast Asia. Takehiro Nakamura is Director of the Bangkok Office, International Relations and Research Department, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), a position he has held since April 2022, following his role as Deputy Director from 2019. In this capacity, he leads and strengthens cooperation and coordination with space agencies, governments, universities, industries, and international organizations across the Asia-Pacific region. Previously, Mr. Nakamura worked in JAXA’s Human Spaceflight Technology Directorate at the Tsukuba Space Center, where he contributed to the promotion and utilization of the International Space Station program. He has also served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, North American Affairs Bureau, coordinating Japan-U.S. economic and diplomatic relations, including Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations and high-level bilateral visits. Earlier in his career, he was engaged in strategic planning at JAXA Headquarters, contributing to the formulation of Japan’s national space policy and JAXA’s organizational strategic plans. His experience further includes roles in space education, security administration, and International Space Station policy development at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Mr. Nakamura began his career at the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA), participating in the launch operations of the H-IIA launch vehicle from its first test flight through Flight No.6 at Tanegashima Space Center. With over two decades of experience across the aerospace and defence sectors, he previously held key positions at the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), Sapura Defence and Airod-Alenia Technology. A Professional Technologist (Ts.) registered with MBOT, Ts. Dr. Shamsul is recognised for his leadership in policy formulation, ecosystem development, human capital development, international partnerships and research & technology. His notable contributions include the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030, the 12th Malaysia Plan Aerospace Strategic Plan, the national ICP Operating System and major studies on Performance Based Contracting (PBC), aerospace TVET and SME development. He started his professional career in the private sector as a Senior Geologist in 1993. He joined the government sector as Research Officer at Malaysian Remote Sensing Agency (MRSA) in August 1994. During his career as Research Officer, he gained formal knowledge through certified training in Remote Sensing in Australia, United Kingdom and The Netherlands. At MRSA, he confers his knowledge and experience in spatial data analysis and modelling activities including satellite image processing to help Malaysia exploiting the advancement of remote sensing technologies for nation development, security, and people wellbeing. After 10 years of invaluable contribution in Research and Development (R&D) at local and international level, he was then appointed to lead corporate and strategic section in MRSA for 4 years. His serious dedication and commitment in remote sensing technology management and development in Malaysia was realised when he was promoted as Deputy Director General (Technical Service) MRSA, in the year 2011. Since May 2015, he was appointed as Director General of MRSA with task of spearheading the development and operationalisation of remote sensing and related technologies in Malaysia. With the merger of the Malaysian Remote Sensing Agency (MRSA) and the National Space Agency (ANGKASA) in 2019, he has been appointed as the Director General of Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA).

Dr. Ali R. Ebadi is MEASAT’s Advisor to the Board of Directors. In this role, he advises on MEASAT’s overall orbital slot development strategy. He also assists in the management of the spectrum needs and filing process for future MEASAT satellites. Dr. Ali has more than 30 years of experience in the satellite industry. He was in charge of the design and procurement of the six spacecraft in MEASAT’s satellite fleet. He was also a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Radio Regulations Board (RRB) from 2006 to 2014, and its Vice Chairman and Chairman in 2008 and 2009, respectively. Dr. Ali is the Editor of the ITU-R Handbook on Small Satellites and the Satellite Communications and Technologies book. Following the first two editions of the satellite communications series, he is currently leading the development of the 3rd edition, which is scheduled for release in the first half of 2026. He is also a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with the Institution of Engineers Australia (IEAust), Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology United Kingdom (IET) and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Engineers (IEM).

Anton Adibroto graduated from Bandung Institute of Technology in year 1979 and directly joint Indonesia Aircraft Industry till 1998, the contribution is involve in design CN-235 collaborate with CASA, Spain from 1979 till 1989 and design of Indonesia Wind Tunnel collaborate with the Dutch National Aerospace Laboratory from 1980 till 1992, then become Head of the Laboratory from 1992 till 1998 that testing new design airplane of N-250, but also conducting several joint research with MBB from Germany for flutter testing as well as development of generic model of half-wing with Boeing from USA. In 1996 got awards from Indonesia Government for the contribution on Indonesia Development. From 1995 till 1998 as consultant to UTM in building academic wind tunnel UTM-LST, as well as to Korean Aerospace Research Institute in 1996. After 2004 until now more to academic, start with the Rector of Telkom Business School, then teaching at School of Business and Management at ITB, continue with teaching at Entrepreneur School of UMK at Kelantan 2009-2010 as associate professor. Mohamad Dali Isa has been in the aviation industry for more than 30 years. He is a Professor of Aerospace Engineering since 2016 serving UniKL MIAT and now iCATS University of Sarawak. He had a short stint with KKIP Aerospace Centre as Chief Executive Officer cum Maintenance Training Organization’s Accountable Manager of Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM). At KKIP Aerospace Training Centre, Dr. Dali had developed and maintained Part 147 approval, developed Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO) approval and collaborated with China counterpart to obtain and maintain the specific program approvals under the jurisdiction of China Air Transport Association (CATA).When he was in UniKL MIAT, he had held various management positions including Dean/Head of two campuses, Sepang and Subang. Following his appointment as Head of Campus of UniKL MIAT, he was delegated by CAAM and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) as an Accountable Manager responsible for Ab-Initio Training Organization Part 147. From year 2016 until 2020, he was also appointed as a Chief Technical Officer for UniKL Resources Sdn. Bhd administering specialized trainings for armed forces engineering crews at Institute of Aerospace Technology (ITAS), accepted and approved as a person in-charge of all technical and financial matters by Director General of Directorate General Technical Airworthiness of State Authority, Armed Forces. Now with iCATS University of Sarawak, Dr. Dali has been given a task to develop academic technology programs that are well related to aircraft maintenance licensing qualified undergraduates in order to support Sarawak government aspiration to become regional aerospace hub. Prior to his career in UniKL MIAT, Ir. Dali served Malaysia Airlines (MAS) as a Technical Services Engineer for almost 13 years. He was a Category I and II signatories delegated by Director General, Department of Civil Aviation responsible for any minor and major structural design alteration to narrow and wide-body aircrafts including repair and modification. Category 1 is the highest authority of approval available given to an individual for unlimited aircraft design activities in the country. He coordinated the first Malaysia in-house B747 heavy maintenance overhaul cum pylon modifications. Assigned as technical representatives for Airbus A300 and Boeing B747-300 heavy maintenance visits cum special repairs conducted at British Aerospace (BAe) and Qantas Engineering respectively were amongst responsibilities discharged during his career in MAS. Mohamad Dali was the first Malaysian being the member of Airbus Structures Working Group (ASWG). In 2001, he was promoted as a Head of Engineering for KLIA and line operations and served MAS under that capacity for five years. Dr. Mohamad Dali research interests include aircraft structures particularly composite materials, damage tolerance and fail-safe design. He has authored numerous numbers of industrial technical or engineering reports totaling more than 400 and also authored technical publications in leading journals. He has also lectured in several invited industrial short courses to Airlines, Royal Malaysian Airforce, Airod, Sepang Aircraft Engineering (SAE) and G7 Aerospace. Dr Dali had given regular talks and comments on MH370 and MH17 incidents in the media including RTM 1, Bernama Astro Awani and leading newspapers. He was the first Chairman of Malaysian Society of Engineering Technologist founded in 2008, past Deputy President and now a Vice President and Fellow of Malaysia Society of Engineering and Technology (MSET).

A graduate of Tohoku University, Japan, Dato Sudarnoto began his career at Matsushita Air-Conditioning R&D before joining Celcom Malaysia in 1994. He spent 19 years in Celcom and Maxis, holding various portfolios before being appointed by the Sarawak Government as Chief Executive Officer of SACOFA Sdn. Bhd. in 2013. During his tenure at SACOFA, he led a significant organisational transformation and expanded the company’s regional and international footprint. Kumar has several years of varied experience with aircraft lessors, namely 13 years at GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) where he worked on cargo aircraft placements as well as the technical management of all genre of commercial aircraft located within the China, Indian subcontinent and ASEAN, followed by 3 years in a commercial role at Nordic Aviation Capital covering the Indian subcontinent, Indonesia, Australia and Oceania placing and trading regional jets and turboprops. Prior to joining GECAS in 2009, Kumar held key operational and commercial positions at ST Aerospace SASCO and then at Pratt & Whitney Eagle Services Asia and in both instances, successfully expanded the MROs’ capture of opportunities from EMEA and the Americas. Kumar holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) from the National University of Singapore and Masters in Business Admiration (International Business) from Nanyang Technological University. He speaks fluent English and Mandarin and enjoys road biking and leisure travel.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mercu Tekun Sdn. Bhd., a space engineering services company, and the Chief Technology Officer of Angkasa-X, a satellite integrator and operator company. He holds an MSc. in Flight Dynamics and an Honours Degree in Aerospace Engineering. He is a Certified Practising Professional Engineer in Aerospace Engineering with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. Recently joined iCATS as a Principal Reseacrh Fellow. He started space as an apprentice engineer at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, United Kingdom and returned to Malaysia to join Universiti Teknologi Malaysia teaching Aeronautics. He was the engineer for the Satellite Attitude Determination & Control System and Launch Manager for the TiungSAT-1, Malaysia first remote sensing microsatellite. From the ranks he rose to become the Chief Technical Officer of Astronautic Technology Sdn. Bhd. which was the leading space technology company in Malaysia upto year 2020. He successfully executed the launch of RazakSAT which was the world first remote sensing satellite in Near Equatorial Orbit (NEqO), being the first international mission on the Falcon-1, the first rocket developed by SpaceX in the year 2009. He managed the successful award of the ISO 9001:2008 for Space Projects at ATSB, the first in Malaysia in 2012. He has authored and co-authored more than 50 papers, conducted short courses on Satellite Technology and Systems Engineering, help supervise post-graduate students and continue to mentor Spacetech enthusiast and young engineers.
