KUALA LUMPUR: Boeing has strengthened its presence in Malaysia with the opening of a new corporate office here today.

This reaffirms its long-standing commitment to the country's aerospace ambitions under the Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030.

Boeing's president of Southeast Asia Penny Burtt said the expansion in Malaysia reflects the company's deepening investment and collaboration across a broad spectrum of the country's aerospace sector.

"We are honoured to support Malaysia's vision of becoming a key aerospace node in the region as outlined in the country's Aerospace Blueprint 2030.

"The opening of Boeing's new expanded corporate office in Kuala Lumpur reflects our deep commitment to the Malaysian government, our employees, customers and partners in the country."

The office will serve as a pivotal hub to advance its efforts in customer support, aviation safety, sustainability and supply chain in Malaysia, home to one of the largest aviation markets in Asia Pacific, she said at the launch of tgevnew office in Menara Hap Seng 3 today.

Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong welcomed Boeing's continued support in driving forward the country's aerospace blueprint as well as the plane manufacturer's continued role in supporting the nation's industrial growth and supply chain resilience.

"With our robust industrial ecosystem, strategic geographical position and stable talent supply, Malaysia is well-positioned to be an aerospace hub for the region. We also appreciate Boeing's efforts in developing local talent to support its operations in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah," he said.

The United States ambassador to Malaysia, Edgard D. Kagan said Boeing's presence in Malaysia is a prime example of long-term US business partnerships with Malaysia.

"What they're doing is good for the US and good for Malaysia. Boeing mirrors the efforts of so many other American companies to develop Malaysian workers, integrate Malaysia into their global supply chain, and commit to helping Malaysia and Malaysians increase their competitiveness in the aerospace sector, all while strengthening the U.S. economy back home," he said.

Malaysian Investment Development Authority chief executive officer, Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said Boeing's expanded footprint in Malaysia speaks volumes about the country's growing role in the global aerospace landscape.

The move fits perfectly with Malaysia's National Investment Aspirations and Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030.

"The inauguration of Boeing's new office strengthens Malaysia's position in the global aerospace supply chain, and MIDA stands ready as a steadfast partner to support Boeing's growth here," he said.

Boeing's relationship with Malaysia stretches back over seven decades, beginning in 1947 when Malayan Airways Ltd acquired its first Douglas DC-3.

Since then, the American aerospace giant has played a crucial role in Malaysia's aerospace development from commercial aviation and defence to education and community development.

A key part of Boeing's Malaysian presence is Boeing Composites Malaysia (BCM) in Kedah, the company's first wholly owned manufacturing facility in Southeast Asia.

The plant supplies composite parts and subassemblies for all Boeing commercial aircraft models.

Local airlines that are operating Boeing aircraft include Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Batik Air Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Boeing's presence in Malaysia covers commercial aviation, defence and services, manufacturing, supply chain development, safety training, sustainability workshops and studies, university collaborations and community support initiatives.
